INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR RESCUE-RANGER DEF HEAD SENSOR SIMULATORS AND RESCUE-RANGER eZ SWITCH

Congratulations!  You have purchased a Rescue-Ranger, the best DEF Head Sensor Simulator available on the market.  Each unit has been designed and developed by an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer with over 45+ years of manufacturing experience in new product development. 

All Rescue-Ranger products are protected by U.S Patent No. US 12,723,533 B1.

Each unit is proudly built in the USA to ISO9001standards.  All components are OEM grade with weather tight connectors and not cheap foreign knockoffs.  Each unit has been tested on an actual RV and verified with Cummins Insite dealer software. 

These units are designed for continuous duty and have over a million miles of trouble free operation.  Most people are opting to keep using the Simulator vs spending ~$3000 for parts/labor for a new DEF header. 

When to use the DHSS or flip to Simulator on the EZ Switch Simulator? 

At the first sign of a check engine light or code related to the DEF fluid level, DEF fluid temperature, or DEF fluid quality.  You have a very limited amount of time to change over before the engine goes into the derate process.  And once the RED waring light and stop engine light are on, you are in full derate with a max speed of 5 mph, and once you shut the engine off, it may not restart. 

These instructions cover the installation for Rescue-Ranger EZ Switch and Rescue-Ranger DEF Head Sensor Simulator (DHSS) on 2010-2016 chassis Analog DEF heads and 2017-current chassis Digital DEF heads.   

Please refer to the specific section for details on the connector for your year and chassis make. 

Connect into box into the system by following the specific notes for your specific year and chassis manufacturer, then mount box wherever it is convenient either with the supplied tie wraps or by using self tapping sheet metal screws. and then put the switch into the 

"Normal" position. 

Test the unit by first filling your DEF tank completely, then turn on the key and verify that your DEF fluid gauge reads full.  Then turn off key, flip switch to "Simulator", then turn on key, verify that the DEF fluid level now reads 3/4 (75%) full, then start engine, then verify no warning lights come on. 

Then stop engine and flip back to "Normal".  Then start engine, verify tank reads full, and no warning lights come on.  It has now been tested successfully. 

The same notes regarding the DEF failures codes and keeping the tank level full also apply here when the switch is in the Simulator position.
